At Communities In Schools® (³Ô¹Ïtv®), we believe that every student, regardless of race, gender, ability, zip code, or socioeconomic background has what they need to realize their full potential in school and beyond. We walk by their side, in their communities, to challenge the systems and barriers that stand between them and their success in life.

In Washington state, we operate as a network of 10 independent affiliates, 3 emerging affiliates, and the ³Ô¹Ïtv of Washington state office.

Why We Exist

Many students and their families have a hard time accessing and navigating the maze of public and private services. There may be ample resources in a community, but rarely is there someone on the ground who is able to connect these resources with the schools and students that need them most.

What We Do

Through a school-based coordinator, we bring community resources into schools to empower success for all students by removing barriers for students furthest from educational justice, keeping kids in schools and on the path to graduation and leveraging evidence, relationships and local resources to drive results.

Why It Matters

Working directly in over 200 schools across Washington, our evidence-based model connects students to caring adults and community resources to transform how they see and experience the world around them. By surrounding them with a network of trust they can turn to no matter where they are in their journey, we empower students to confront and overcome personal challenges and structural barriers—so they can take charge of the future they want for themselves, their communities and each other.
